S-Keeper 7™ as Continuous Emissions Monitoring System is in compliance with all applicable directive such us Marpol, NOx Technical Code etc., as already explained. This compliance is proven since the constrains and guidelines were strictly followed during engineering and construction. However, this does not provide any evidence that S-Keeper 7™ will withstand the tough conditions on board: high ambient temperature or ship rolling, vibrations etc. are standard problems for electronic device or integrated system.
To assess that the S-Keeper 7™ is fully compatible with on board installation, an additional validation step is necessary: the well-known Type Approval.
Type Approval is a systematic procedure with combined standardized tests used to confirm that a product type is in conformity with a set of pre-determined requirements. These tests are used to demonstrate the ability of the equipment to function as intended under the specified testing conditions.
The test procedures requirements are based on independent register Rules (RINA, Lloyd, DNV, etc.) and harmonized standards IEC 60092-504 – “Electrical installations in ships, part 504: Special features, control and instrumentation”.
The scope of the tests required for a specific product will be determined on a case by case basis by Independent Register looking at the field of application and intended location on board.
In other words, this independent recognized Body will assess the compatibility of most critical devices and the Overall System with marine ambience and consequently a dedicated specific certification is issued.
S-Keeper 7™ dedicated Type Approval Certifications for each analyser are as follows:
- ZPA as NDIR analyzer for CO, CO2, NOX, SO2 parameters
- ZFK7 as Zirconium Oxide analyzer for O2
- S710 as Particulate analyser for dust
The above Type Approvals have been issued by RINA Registro Italiano NAvale
S-Keeper 7™ dedicated Type Approval Certifications, for the Overall System:
- FULL version covering all the possible configurations
The above Type Approvals has been already released by
- LLOYD Register
- DNV – GL
- ClassNK
- CCS
- ABS
To download each Type Approval please use the sidebar in this page.
Acquiring the above Type Approvals required extensive work involving testing, result analysis, technical upgrading…in order to satisfy each constrain. Moreover ISO 17025 compliance was mandatory in selecting the laboratory facilities.
The test types were the following:
Electromagnetic Compatibility
- Conducted Voltage Emissions
- Radiated Emissions
- Immunity to Electrostatic Discharge
- Immunity to Radiate Radio-Frequency Electromagnetic Field
- Immunity to Fast Transients/Burst
- Immunity to Surge Test
- Immunity to Conducted Radio-Frequency Electromagnetic Field
- Immunity to Conducted Low Frequency
- Electrical AC Power Supply Variation
- Insulation Resistance
- High Voltage Test
Ambient Tests to assess the compatibility with
- High & low temperatures
- High humidity
- Vibrations
For the first step, the aim of test session was demonstrate the ability of the stand-alone analyzers to withstand an electromagnetic field without any disturbances during a real analysis cycle. The S-Keeper 7™ was tested in its FULL version equipped with Oxygen and Particulate optional analyzers, heated cable and sampling probe.
